Tessellate - A study of pattern by reworking and restructuring designs that tickle my fancy. Long obsessed with textile and geometric designs in architectural details, from traditional quilts to Islamic tiles, this year I aim to address several designs a month as a thinking exercise. Note: none of the posted images are direct duplications of the original point of inspiration, only the result of editing and process.

The first of this series is a design which got stuck in the back of my head and began my need to deconstruct a pattern to see how it was built - from a quilt by Meg C. The second a carpet noticed in a photo laying under Dunks feet. This triangle and center square motif is reminiscent of a traditional mosaic quilt design in a woven format.
